Welcome to Klingbeils' Camp !

We hope you enjoy the kind of pleasures we’ve had in summers past.

Knowing key items will help you have a pleasant stay.

Kitchen AmenitiesPlease help yourself to any cabinet food or refrigerator staples for any purpose. If you deplete any item, kindly replenish, for the next users. Overnight, avoid leaving food open on counter tops. Mouse-attractive items like cereals, bread and chips should be well secured in the microwave or ice-chest. Vacuum cleaner is in the kitchen closet by front door; dustpan, broom & hand-brush are near the wastebaskets by the ‘fridge.  Cleaning products are under the kitchen sink & in the bathroom closet. Leave tub, sinks and toilet as you wish to find them.

EnvironmentWe live close to Mother Nature. RECYCLING follows from Fulton County (pick-up on 1st & 3rd Fridays) using the large bin on wheels at the corner of the house. Town will reject any pick-up with single-use plastic bags or extruded polystyrene/Styrofoam packaging. See details in 3-ring notebook by the front window.

GARBAGE Please DO compost vegetable & fruit scraps; start @ a large plastic jug next to refrigerator. We have a new composting bin to the right/west of the parking area where vegetable parings and any non-meat products that will decompose can be placed.  We no longer are dumping things along the hill up the driveway, since our dog seems to find that a great snacking area!  Corn cobs should be put into the trash.

Gravies, bones, meat scraps should go into a sealable container (empty sauce jar, milk carton, etc.) prior to being placed into the garbage But DON’T compost meat due to critters &/or odors – discard as a sealed pack prior to placement into garbage.

Fun Stuff – Raft floats in about 15 feet of water. Kayaks, sailboat, rowboat, pedal boat & canoe ALWAYS require a personal flotation device (PFD). Stand-up paddleboard can support <100lbs, so is really for kids. Life jackets (Type II & III) in multiple styles are located in the Rubbermaid bin by the large back window. Small kid lifejackets are in the bottom of metal cabinet. High in the grey-door kitchen closet, along with oars & paddles find many seat cushions as Type IV PFDs.                                                                                Effective January 2025, NYS requires a boat safety certificate for boaters. Non-motorized or Rental boats do not require this certificate, but are encouraged. Swimmers & dripping bodies won’t harm the waterproof carpets at front & rear entrances.

High in the kitchen closet, along with oars & paddles find many seat cushions as Type IV PFDs But the wood floor is vulnerable anywhere else – DO NOT let water pool on wood floors! Wet towels can hang from antlers, the drying rack @ balcony, rafters, and outdoor railings, but DO NOT dry on the natural pine railing of indoor stairs, because the wood gets stained!

Entertainment – Low technology is key to Camp philosophy. Books, boardgames & puzzles represents the tastes of many individuals. If needed however, the Spectrum internet password is “KlingbeilC@mp55” [Alternative: two 2s, three 4s, five 6s]
·       LOONS are long-lived, fish-eating birds on top of the aquatic food web. They are federally protected. If you see a loon in distress, consider calling the Adirondack Loon Center @ 518-354-8636.
·       FISH @ Green Lake include bass, pickerel, perch, sunfish, chub, minnows, salamanders, crayfish . . . & rare lake trout.

Security – Camp is generally very safe.  We normally leave the house & cars unlocked, even when we are gone for a few hours.                        But that’s us.       Key operates both front & back door, plus shed.     Strangers will use the “Forever Wild” foot trail behind the camp, exploring the Preserve shoreline.  Strangers should NOT feel free to walk down our driveway.  On Preserve land, there is easy trail access immediately south of the driveway. We reinforce the concept of permission. Our ‘Posted’ / Private Property / ‘No trespassing’ signs are per DEC guidelines

No smoking! Inside camp is tobacco free. PLEASE no smoking inside, and kindly dispose of butts into trash & not the yard.

Missing something? Canada Lake Store and Marina is ¼ mile north of camp on Route 10 (on the opposite side of road). If they don’t have it, you probably don’t need it (ha!). Rental power boats are available at their marina. Easy to call the general store at 518-835-6069 to verify any items.

Breakage happens – Camp is full of hand-me-downs and used items. Please let us know if you found something broken or if damage occurred during your stay.  We do not expect you to fix or replace things that break during normal usage.  (Extra light bulbs are found in the metal cabinet across from the half-bath.)

We trust you to share this mountain treasure, so we are confident you will show the same care of it as you would your own home.
