Directions

For typical GPS, use THIS address: "103 Old State Road, Caroga Lake 12032"

The formal, legal location of Happy Hollow is 1481 State Highway 10/29A
and is described as within the Town of Caroga Lake, 12032

DIRECTIONS do NOT link with GPS, Garmin, GoogleMaps or Mapquest-type directions to Klingbeils' Camp.
(Apologies for being off the grid of civilization.)
Consider a NAVIGATION SUBSTITUTE, and use the 'Canada Lake General Store' address
at  "103 Old State Road, Caroga Lake 12032"

Map above shows camp at the black pin, within the Adirondack Park line.
Camp is the only cottage on one-half of Green Lake.

Although it seems rather old-fashioned, consider

Ephratah - continuing via NY-10 about 11.3 miles

Enter Adirondack Park and see many more evergreens - Continue to the main intersection of

Caroga village with a LEFT turn
onto NY-29A/NY-10 for 1.4 miles

(See ***CONTINUE*** below:)

***CONTINUE*** driving through:

Caroga Lake village is centered at the old Sherman’s Amusement Park. The village is the beginning of the combined State Routes 10 & 29A going North;

(It’s now 3 miles or 5 minutes to the Cottage.) Drive past

Wheelerville and the Nick Stoner Golf Course. As you ascend in elevation again, see sign for

Pinnacle Restaurant driveway on Right (restaurant may or may not be a viable business now). This is a high peak on the road.
Begin descending the highway; see prominent rocky sides of the mountain.

On right see diamond-shaped sign for

PEDESTRIAN AHEAD

Your DESTINATION on the Right is a subtle GAP in highway guard rail.

The DRIVEWAY is in the GAP between wire rope and square steel guardrail.

The DRIVEWAY on Right also has a new yellow-on brown address "1481" at the guard rail.

The DRIVEWAY  is simply the GAP between guardrails.

(Meaning, you can't see the DRIVEWAY - it is is simply a GAP.)

Beyond the DRIVEWAY see sign for
    |    Green Lake     |
    |   Canada Lake   |
off in the distance, off the 'square-steel tubing' guardrail.

Drive downward slowly - PARKING next to the cottage is tight but possible for four cars on the right.
or otherwise
Drive onto the highway shoulder -  PARKING is easy and open for a dozen cars.  You can see the little wooden sign that announces
" Happy Hollow "
then walk down the driveway to the cottage.

Whoops! . . . . .THAT was quick!

If you drive past the driveway, Continue on 10/29A. Quickly pass beyond the green sign for
      Green Lake
      Canada Lake
Ahead there’s the

CANADA LAKE GENERAL STORE

about 1150 feet further on the LEFT.
(They stock essentials, sell espresso and have an old-fashioned phone booth, since cell phones and mountains mix poorly.)

You can U-turn around their parking lot and try the driveway again, OR call folks at the cottage.

Welcome!
