Within NY, these directions work well:
New York's Interstate 90 is also called the
Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway. Travel
from the EAST (~Schenectady, NY 12305) or
from the WEST (~Utica,NY 13501)
Exit 29 of NYS Thruway - Canjoharie (50 miles east of Utica);
then take
NY-10 North - travel across the Mohawk River from Canajoharie through the riverside village of
Palatine Bridge zig-zaging on NY-10, Left & Right, onto Lafayette Street, and a steep uphill rise about 1.9 miles to
Stone Arabia - then a sharp LEFT at Cook Corners; travel NY-10 about 5.8 miles to
Ephratah - continuing via NY-10 about 11.3 miles
Enter Adirondack Park and see many more evergreens - Continue to the main intersection of
Caroga village with a LEFT turn
onto NY-29A/NY-10 for 1.4 miles

Traveling I-90 from the EAST:
Exit 27 of NYS Thruway - Amsterdam;
(about 22 miles west of Schenectady);
take a RIGHT past the toll booths onto
Route 30 - North over the Mohawk River bridge, approaching downtown Amsterdam
Cross past the series of traffic lights and follow the signs to
Route 5 - WEST - Continuing west, more than 5 miles, past Amtrak Station & original Fort Johnson; at
Route 67 - turn RIGHT to the North; Ascend past village, farms & the Fulton-Montgomery Community College to
Johnstown. - At the traffic light turn RIGHT onto
Route 30 A - and continue past commercial areas toward
Gloversville - Prepare to turn LEFT off of Route 30 A, onto
Route 29 A - North traveling thru downtown Gloversville. Begin ascending, out of town. Enter the
Adirondack Park at the brown sign and see many evergreens
Pecks Lake - will appear on the RIGHT after entering the Adirondack Park;

Caroga Lake village is centered at the old Sherman’s Amusement Park. The village is the beginning of the combined State Routes 10 & 29A going North;
(It’s now 3 miles or 5 minutes to the Cottage.) Drive past
Wheelerville and the Nick Stoner Golf Course. As you ascend in elevation again, see sign for
Pinnacle Restaurant driveway on Right (restaurant may or may not be a viable business now). This is a high peak on the road.
Begin descending the highway; see prominent rocky sides of the mountain.
On right see diamond-shaped sign for
PEDESTRIAN AHEAD
Your DESTINATION on the Right is a subtle GAP in highway guard rail.
The DRIVEWAY is in the GAP between wire rope and square steel guardrail.
The DRIVEWAY on Right also has a new yellow-on brown address "1481" at the guard rail.
The DRIVEWAY is simply the GAP between guardrails.
(Meaning, you can't see the DRIVEWAY - it is is simply a GAP.)
Beyond the DRIVEWAY see sign for

off in the distance, off the 'square-steel tubing' guardrail.
Drive downward slowly - PARKING next to the cottage is tight but possible for four cars on the right.

Drive onto the highway shoulder - PARKING is easy and open for a dozen cars. You can see the little wooden sign that announces
" Happy Hollow "
then walk down the driveway to the cottage.

If you drive past the driveway, Continue on 10/29A. Quickly pass beyond the green sign for
Green Lake
Canada Lake
Ahead there’s the
CANADA LAKE GENERAL STORE
about 1150 feet further on the LEFT.
(They stock essentials, sell espresso and have an old-fashioned phone booth, since cell phones and mountains mix poorly.)
You can U-turn around their parking lot and try the driveway again, OR call folks at the cottage.
